Serenoa and co. reach Wolffort Castle... and receive the bad news. And then some more bad news. And then yet another piece of bad news. It just isn't going well for our heroes, is it? It's a bad day to be a father/father figure in Norze
The most jaw-dropping thing players will notice right away is Triangle Strategy 's art style. What began as a one-off has turned into a series of games. The HD-2D aesthetic is seemingly here to stay with Live a Live also receiving the same treatment, and it’s easy to see why Square Enix is keen on this graphical st
Triangle Strategy might run the risk of being too formulaic, with all chapters thus far split into a predictable pattern of dialogue, battles, and decisions that can change around depending on where the story is at any given moment. I can see this becoming played out if the writing and characters don’t remain constantly engaging or new ideas and scenarios aren’t frequently introduced to keep the plates spinning. But right now, I’m confident it will sustain itself, especially given how smitten I already am with everything it has to offer. It feels like a loving homage to Tactics Ogre or Final Fantasy Tactics while having an equal determination to move the genre forward and try new things.
'Dwindling Light' follows 'A Soul upon The Scales' in combining voting with exploration. You're given the option to step outside into the castle town, which you should of course take in order to find items, shop with the merchant, and engage in Conviction Conversati
And now for the main event. Will you see House Wolffort through the moral ambiguity of working alongside Sorsley? Or will you attempt to report his wrongdoings directly to Hyzante? Here's how to make Serenoa's friends see the value of each appro
The latest strategy RPG to release on Nintendo Switch, Triangle Strategy ** , naturally draws comparisons to Nintendo’s own SRPG series, Fire Emblem ** . Released on March 4, Triangle Strategy is an HD-2D title by Square Enix reminiscent of Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre . The latest Fire Emblem title, Three Houses , was released on July 26, 2019, but a hack-and-slash action SLG Game Patch notes spin-off, Three Hopes , is set to release on June 24 of this y
After being somewhat underwhelmed by the sheer level of content and broader focus of Octopath Traveller, Triangle Strategy feels like a more mature, nuanced tale that encapsulates classical fantasy tropes with a level of melodrama that feels equal parts Final Fantasy and Game of Thrones. While the continent of Norzelia is rife with magical spells and mythical creatures, the people who call it home are subject to societal struggles that are far too real. Games in this genre often feel outlandish, so this is no small achievement.
In Triangle Strategy, there will be multiple events that require you to make a decision using the Scales of Conviction . This involves a vote held amongst seven of your allies, who each get a say in the mat
The larger number of Fire Emblem games to choose from is offset by their growing scarcity, especially with the Nintendo 3DS eShop shutting down in March 2023. Still, Triangle Strategy ’s accessibility compared to most Fire Emblem titles, which are still Japan-only , doesn’t mean it’s a one-to-one replacement for them. The two actually have major mechanical differences that can either lead players to prefer one greatly over the other or to offer welcome diversity in the SRPG fan’s collect
The Mean Twins arrive at the throne room to congratulate their Less Mean But Still Mean Brother, and a sniveling Patriatte makes an appearance. And after that... some Game of Thrones-style flavor events will unf
There aren’t many opportunities to grind in the game outside mock and story battles. Mock battles reuse old maps to put the team against an assortment of soldiers. This is a great way to level up experience; however, leveling up isn’t the only way to strengthen characters. Players must acquire materials that then go into a type of skill t
Many strategy RPGs divide gameplay into a "player phase" when the player can move all their allies however they please and an "enemy phase" when the enemies can do the same, and Fire Emblem is no exception. Players can build their strategy around moving their units all at once in whatever order they please, and they know the enemies will all move in response to how the player leaves the field. In Triangle Strategy , there are no phases: units instead move one after another based on their speed, similar to how the speed stat works in Pokémon . Players have to instead consider when each unit, enemy and ally alike, is able to next move in order to best approach the situation and keep their units protec
If you want to go Aesfrost, you're going to have to convince Benedict, Frederica, Geela, and Anna to agree with your reasoning. The other three characters should not be talked to as they will already vote for
