On the flipside, Tears of the Kingdom is a visually stunning game in spite of its technical shortcomings, and will stick in my memory no matter what. That I was playing it on Switch at all eluded me after a certain point because it commands that much of a presence, so maybe I’m just spoiled by the status quo and want Nintendo to catch up already. I’d also like to enjoy Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity at more than 15 frames per second too, so there’s a case for both. Either way, a new Nintendo console is on the horizon, and I wish it’d hurry up.

Undoubtedly to the relief of many players, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 's weapon durability system has fixed one of Breath of the Wild 's biggest problems. Thanks to Link's new Fuse ability, he'll be able to mix and match various items from his inventory to invent new armaments whenever his current weapon breaks. Depending on the materials used to craft them, weapons will feature different levels of durability, so players will need to experiment with various combinati

Recall allows you to Rewind the path of an object for a few seconds, sending it back where it came from, reversing its trajectory, or otherwise allowing you to interact with the world in a totally new way. While you can't, for example, send arrows back to enemies in battle, Recall is a crucial skill to master.

When you enter the shrine, you'll gain the ability to Recall . This is a complex ability that will force time to rewind for a particular object. This is time-limited, so you'll need to make sure the object will rewind to the state you need it to be in to suit your needs within the time limit.

In spite of these concerns, though, it's clear that there's something special about the open world of Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom that makes straying from it a lot less tempting than it might otherwise be. While it feels like the next Legend of Zelda game is a million Korok seed hunts and Lynel beatings away, it's worth wondering whether a more measured design choice with a more dynamic map might be the best plan of action moving forw

Over the years we’ve labelled the presence of weapon degradation as impeding whatever progress we’re hoping to make, whether it be during a shrine or the puzzle-covered innards of a Divine Beast. To that I say - come better prepared if you can help it. Breath of the Wild’s small yet ambitious selection of base mechanics all interact with one another and all of your equipment in fascinating ways. Metallic weapons can be paired with currents of electricity to solve puzzles, or the momentum of stasis combined with quick attack bursts can send Link and pretty much anything else hurtling into the stratosphere. You are rewarded for pushing back against expectations and trying things that wouldn’t traditionally be expected, and so often rewarded for thinking outside the box.
