Considering the game is only six months old, we would expect a Game of the Year edition to surface sometime in the fall, or possibly next Spring, given the plethora of new games planned for later this year. Whenever it’s released, though, we have no doubt Shadow of Mordor MOBA Game strategy of the Year edition will sell well among gam

vainglory.jpgRockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V isn't lagging too far behind, with a respectable nine nominations in categories including Best Game, Best British Game, Best Performer (for Steven Ogg, who voiced Trevor) and Game Innovation. Released to both critical acclaim and the usual controversy, Grand Theft Auto V was the first game in the franchise to feature three protagonists, with the player able to move between each of them at almost any t

After being named the Game of the Year at the 2015 Game Developers Conference, it looks like Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor may be getting a Game of the Year edition. While there’s not yet any official word on the edition, Warner Bros. did submit the game for a Game of the Year classification to the Australian Classification Bo

For Deckard, we actually started out with a really heavily .Diablo inspired kit. We had the healing potions pretty early on: healing potions are in Diablo , he is going to be a healer, so this works. We had this thing where he could identify enemy heroes which was kind of weird because it would channel on them, reveal them, and reduce their armor. He had this thing where he could give the Nephalem Glory buff to an ally -- by the way, he still has as a talent at level 13 -- that was originally part of his base

Last month, word broke that Microsoft had canceled a reboot of Phantom Dust , which was being developed by Darkside Games. The reboot was meant to revive the cult classic from the original Xbox, and while Darkside Games is no longer working on it, Microsoft says it still plans to release the game at some point for Xbox One. Microsoft didn’t provide a reason for cancelling the project, or when they envision the game will rele

BAFTA announced the nominees today, and somewhat unsurprisingly The Last of Us is top dog once again with an impressive ten nominations. These include a Best Performer nomination apiece for Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, as well as nominations for Artistic Achievement, Action and Adventure, Audio Achievement, Original Music, Multiplayer, Story, Game Design and - the big one - Best Game. Naughty Dog may well end up needing a wheelbarrow to carry home those golden ma

On a slightly cheerier note, Galactic Cafe's funny and cerebral indie title The Stanley Parable also scored four nominations, as did the dystopian bureaucracy simulator Papers, Please , which is up for a Best Game award. Other nominees for Best Game include Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Super Mario 3D World . Tomb Raider has three nominations, as does mobile title BADLAND and Beyond: Two Sou

The second runner-up in the BAFTA nominations race is Tearaway , which is impressive considering for a game only available on a mobile platform. Released on the PlayStation Vita and developed by Media Molecule, the studio behind the LittleBigPlanet games, Tearaway is set in a paper world that definitely seemed to charm the Academy, based on the eight nominations it received in categories such as Game Innovation, Game Design and Best G

Even if microtransactions might be backed by good intentions, that doesn't change the way they feel to gamers. EA's own Mass Effect 3 's day-one DLC had many fans up in arms —if the DLC was ready at launch, why wasn't it included in game, especially since it contained a character many long-time fans of the series were dying to see? It's easy to be cynical; EA knew players wanted to know more about the mysterious Protheans and knew they'd be willing to pay money for it, so it's possible they changed their business model for more profit. That, coupled with the introduction of war resources that required multiplayer grinding for the best ending, microtransactions to get better weapons and characters in multiplayer, and the controversial ending, left fans of the series feeling exploited and skeptical for the fut

2K's multiplayer online-only Evolve is under fire for this very reason. The game already has several DLCs and a deluxe edition available on top of its $60 price tag. Some critics claim this is equivalent to Evolve being a free-to-play game with microtransactions. Others, who support Evolve 's unique 4v1 approach to multiplayer and gorgeous graphics, hope that paying more money upfront will benefit and support future work. Adding more opportunities for players to pay more for games—through DLC and custom items—is a strategy that has earned developers more money thus far, so it's unlikely to end anytime s

We wouldn’t be surprised to see the Shadow of Mordor receive a Game of the Year edition, especially considering the strong reviews it received from both critics and gamers. We at Game Rant gave the game a 4.5 out of
