The most important point Hogwarts Legacy must get right, however, is balancing the open world map. Games like Skyrim have managed a perfect balance between exploration and story for players to shift between. Side quests that promote narrative points while offering a chance to see a new part of the map, or find a new Hogwarts Legacy beast in the Forbidden Forest , will be the key to success for a franchise hoping to succeed with a massive open world game. Without content to make exploration purposeful, the game will be boring and feel empty. Skyrim avoided this by adding plenty of side stories and quests that vary in requirements, extending adventures to players who might want to take a break from the main plot. Choice is the key for any game that offers a whole world to a character. The map must have rewards that make it worth explor
This is all under the assumption that the game __ will stay true to the established lore of the wizarding world. Another thing worth noting is in 1875, the Ministry of Magic passes the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery, in which young magic users are forbidden from using magic outside of Hogwarts. It's hard to say for certain, but the trailer seems to portray students using magic outside of the school grounds. How interesting it would be if the player's actions in the game bring about this law. While nothing has been confirmed, it seems highly probable that **Hogwarts Legacy ** will take place in the 1870s, but there is still much room for speculat

Hogwarts is a place full of dangerous creatures, environments, and situations. No parent in their right minds should allow their children to go there, magic or no magic. There’s a giant angry three-headed dog in the cellar ffs! Who allowed that? Anyway, the pinnacle of these life threatening situations is the Triwizard Tournament. Young children are put face-to-face with fire-breathing dragons, then have to rescue their best friends from drowning at the bottom of a lake, and are finally forced to make their way out of a maze filled with deadly traps and a Dark Lord or two. If made well, the Triwizard Tournament would make one hell of a major side-quest, and a good source of Galleons
The promised backlash has already begun since the information about Leavitt's history came to light on Friday, with fans already expressing concern about his involvement with Hogwarts Legacy on gaming forums, but all of that is to be expected. What's most interesting about the story as it stands is that WB Games knew that Leavitt had a history of controversial views and decided to hire him anyway, in the full knowledge that the Harry Potter fanbase is particularly sensitive to this sort of controversy in the wake of Rowling's transphobia . It seems to be a case of what Admiral Grace Hopper, pioneering computer scientist and one of the most influential women in history, once said: " It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permissio
Games like Skyrim have found the perfect balance of plot with purpose. Quests don't feel bogged down and include adventure and challenge across the board. Some quests are much higher in difficulty than others, while the main storyline is enriched by what players accomplish before going to the main plot points on the map. By making sure that everything players do affects the story they are immersed in, the exploration process is rewarding. If Hogwarts Legacy is able to integrate the world into it's story, and put value on side quests and a filled-out map, the game could be very successful. A map that has no weight or purpose will not feel worth exploring or useful to the game, so quality content is
Despite being an intelligent humanoid race, goblins have faced much adversity and persecution in the Harry Potter universe, particularly in the 17th and 18th centuries when goblin rebellions were prevalent. Many wizards still consider them a subservient race, and to this day they are forbidden from using wands by The Ministry of Magic. In Chapter 15 of The Order of the Phoenix, the Daily Prophet claimed there were still disruptive groups of goblins even during the 1990s, although no concrete evidence supported the newspaper's claim. It seems entirely likely for some goblins to still harbor resentment towards wizards. In 1877, the 393rd Quidditch World Cup became known as " The Tournament that Nobody Remembers, " as a venue was selected, tickets were sold, and players were injured, but no one can recall the events of that day. It's not known for sure what happened, but speculation has narrowed the blame to either a colossal outbreak of Cerebrumous Splattergroit (a fungus causing confusion and memory loss) or a mass Memory Charm perpetuated by the Goblin Liberation Fr
